NEWSDOUBLE OVERTIME EAGLES WIN GAME THREE![]() It was standing room only at the Garnet "B" Rickard Recreation Complex as another capacity crowd was on hand to watch game three of the best of seven, Eastern Conference Championship. Hats off to the many many Duke's fans who traveled to Bowmanville to watch the game. You know it's great hockey when both teams are packing their fan buses. The atmosphere created by both team's spectators has been incredible and carries onto the ice, many comments have been made by the players how exciting it is to play in front of a capacity crowd. Game three was an awesome display of athleticism and exemplifies the skill of both teams and their hockey programs. The Dukes opened the scoring at the 15:35 mark of the first period on a goal by David Pratt. Heard and Markovic would score for the Eagles in the second period giving the Eagles the lead by a goal. As a fan was overheard saying both the teams remind him of the great teams of the original six who never gave up, case in point with "43" seconds remaining in the game the Dukes would pull their goaltender to add the extra attacker. In what can only be described as sure grit, Jeremy Franklin would score to save the Dukes and force the game into overtime. The first twenty minute overtime period would have the crowd gasping in excitement and both teams pressed hard to get the win but as has been the marker thus far in the series goal-tending was awesome at both ends. The second overtime and period "5" would add to the stress both teams were feeling tenfold.....the hero of the night would be the Eagle's Mitch Moffatt assisted by Heard and Place. Moffatt scored the winner at the 4:44 mark of the second overtime to win the game for the Eagles. Game four will take place tomorrow night in Wellington at 7:30pm, the Eagles now take the lead 2-1 in the best of seven series. As a scout from a Division One College stated "this is one of the best playoff games I have ever watched".
![]() DUKES TIE SERIESScore one for the fans in attendance last night in Wellington, a capacity crowd was on hand including a bus load of Eagle's Fans who travelled to Wellington for game two of the Eastern Conference Championship Series. These two hockey teams have great fan support and both organizations are very gratefull for your continued support. Thanks to the Booster Club members of Both teams who have arranged seating for each others fans. Wellington would start off scoring late in the first period with both teams continuing to battle late into the third period. The Eagles would make a critical mistake with the man advantage giving up the puck resulting in the second Wellington Goal near the two minute mark of the third period. With the Eagle's Goaltender pulled the Dukes would put the game out of reach with the empty netter. The Dukes would win the game 3-0. Game Three is tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm at the Garnet "B" Rickard Complex.
